Course Overview / Description / Synopsis:
The educational policy of the El. Venizelos in Crete
The course aims firstly to contribute to the renewal of the debate on educational policy of Venizelos good intentions , planning and ylopoithisis , presenting a series of texts deriving from the period who lived and worked Venizelos in Crete , and second complements the first studies the intentions of the government of Venizelos in educational affairs of mainland Greece , " retracting " a largely unknown aspect of educational activity of the Greek politician in his hometown. The course examines the history of education policy in the late 19th and the first quarter of the 20th century through the examination of key aspects of the policy of El. Venizelos in education , starting the Cretan State and imbedded in the sociopolitical and historical development of the era . Among others in the course examines the philosophy and guidelines of this policy , the institutional framework of the educational policy of Venizelos and armosteiakis government in Crete , the relationship between education and language , the church - state relations in education , the connection between school labor market and attempt interception of classicism , reforms , objectives and programs of the era , etc. Based on the available evidence for purely methodological reasons , the educational intentions and planning policies of Eleftherios Venizelos in Crete part coarsely into two periods: a) in the period before Independence , where Venizelos begins to formulate public policy ideas and writes mainly in newspapers , and b ) the period of autonomy, which is divided into two sub-periods : b1 ) before rupture Venizelos with the commissioner ( 1898-1900) and b2) after Theriso before he take the premiership in the free Greek state. Particular will be studied bills , laws , minutes parliament , government and party of liberal programs , the literature on education , speeches and speeches in the House of El.
