Sex in the history of modern Greek education
The history of women , as historiographical field , challenging male-centered views on history in general , consider the relations between the sexes as social relations that shape historical reality , which changed and reworded . Thus, representations of gender permeate and shape concepts and categories necessarily linked with the history of both genders . The course will be presented by the establishment of the field of the history of sex and the theoretical and methodological approaches that changed historiographical practice in recent years in the field of history and especially the history of education. Emphasis will be given to the interdisciplinary nature of certain terms and concepts that concern the history of sex , and in areas where the use of the historical category of gender and its relation to other categories introduced broader shifts in visual educational past. It will also examine the historical representations of gender dispersed by the prevailing and emerging social groups , and the intervention and the control of state and church institutions in the family and in society in general and the history of education . Studies will be presented around the " exit " of women to education and the labor market and the impact of the establishment of the home and the social space . Based on the Greek case, we investigate the conditions and ideological processes , according to which the physical differences between the sexes in the 19th and early 20th century that were identified fundamentally different mental , spiritual and moral qualities , pre - setting first the different ' in " men and women in society , and other identifying first with the public space and the second with the private and family. It will examine and texts written by "experts" such as teachers or doctors , the intellectual "elite" , and literate women of the 19th century in Greece . Simultaneously used school records schoolgirls and students . Finally , the course will deal with the use of gender in the historiography of childhood.

Course Objectives/Goals: The aim of this course is to introduce students and female students in the history of sex and the theoretical and methodological approaches that changed historiographical practice in recent years in the field of history and especially the history of education. Specifically , students will learn about the way in which diffuse representations for the sexes of the leading and emerging social groups and formed the intervention and the control of state and church institutions in the family and in society in general and the history of education . Additional aim is to understand how the " output " of women to education and the labor market affects the setting of home and the social space .
