Course description: Introduction to the basic concepts of materials science.

Learning outcomes:
- Foundation of an interdisciplinary approach that combines Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for understanding the properties of materials.
- Connecting the macroscopic properties of materials with different levels of material structure (atoms, bonds, crystal lattice).
- Understanding the basic principles of experimental methods for the analysis of the structure and composition of matter.
- Understanding basic design strategies and materials selection schemes.
- Realistic design problems of materials design and solutions.
